As chapbooks are so short (typically 8 - 18 pages), to give a storyline would spoil the thrill of this spine-tingling tale!
The annual Best British Short Stories, edited by Nicholas Royle, is always great value, and the 2018 edition opened with one of the best stories I’ve read in some considerable time: Paymon’s Trio by Colette de Curzon.
A story of music and the dark arts to compare with The Lost Stradivarius. Resonant with the allure of the forbidden, this is a tale told with distinction and grace. Enthusiasts of the great tradition in supernatural fiction will be delighted.
Nightjar Press (an independent publisher specialising in limited edition, single short-story chapbooks) issued this signed and numbered limited edition.
Each book has a page that confirms its handwritten number. Printed on this page are the words, ‘This is copy number...... of a signed limited edition of 200 copies.’
Book #14 is Near Fine (see our article on Condition Grades) – as well as the usual slight scuffing to edges, the back cover has some white spotting and minor surface scrapes caused during the printing process. We’ve priced the book to allow for this.
Book #15 is Fine (see our article on Condition Grades) – usual slight scuffing to edges expected of a book with a card cover.
